Industry Challenges

For food and beverage manufacturers and distributors, production bottlenecks translate into missed deadlines, spoiled products and lost money. Faced with getting their products on the shelves while they are still fresh, food and beverage companies deal with several challenges along the way. They must comply with industry regulations, quality control regiments and ingredient registration requirements – to name a few. That’s why trade publication, Food Logistics, recognizes industry leaders who ease the burden for food manufacturers.

alison_headshot.jpegFood Logistics describes its awards program this way: “Champions: Rock Stars of the Supply Chain recognizes influential individuals in our industry whose achievements, hard work, and vision have shaped and attained milestones in safety, efficiency, productivity and innovation through the global food supply chain.”

Managing Director of Exact’s Macola Division, Alison Forsythe, is being recognized for spearheading the revitalization of the Macola product strategy and introducing Macola 10 to maximize productivity for customers. Macola’s food industry customers include Good2Grow, Woodstock Farms, Superior Nut & Candy, Nielsen-Massey Vanillas and G.L. Mezzetta, Inc.

Automated Worklfow Successes

Implementing Macola 10 streamlined processes and boosted efficiency for customer G.L. Mezzetta. “In one department, we dropped four hours every day on one task, and that’s really just by using workflows and document management,” noted Don McCall, the director of IT. Saving time is especially important to food manufacturers like G.L. Mezzetta that buy ingredients from around the globe and must move them through the supply chain, quickly, while they’re still fresh.

Ingredient quality for food companies is mission critical and Macola 10 offers a key benefit to address potential quality and supply chain issues ─ traceability.  This capability provides end to end visibility of the supply chain, allowing manufacturers to see the life cycle of a product through manufacturing and onto distribution, which is especially important in case of product problems or recalls.

With all of the challenges to overcome in the food industry, providing accurate, real-time visibility into every aspect of the supply chain is crucial. Macola 10 customers are using this data to manage inventory, optimize stock, reduce administrative waste and increase margins ─ taking control of costs and complexity at every stage, from design through delivery, and seeing all facets of their businesses from a single application.
